What is Ice Cream Tees & the BOGO MoveMeant!?
Ice Cream Tees is a company that believes in giving back to the community. We participate and advocate social change through responsible, ethical business practices.
The BOGO MoveMeant! is Buy One Give One or Bought One Gave One! Whatever feels comfortable for you. It’s a conscious social movement that requires action. That’s why we call it a MoveMeant! It’s a move that’s meant to happen.
Imagine what the world would look like if every one of us took a portion of we do, what we’re passionate about, and what we’re good at and we gave it to someone else in need. We would collectively change the world. At any given time there are over 1,000,000 homeless children in the US. We know this is a problem with no easy solution. They lack the most fundamental things that we take for granted; food, shelter, and clothing. So with every t-shirt sold on Ice Cream Tees we give a t-shirt to children in need. Once a month we host an Ice Cream Tee Party were we work with established charities and non-profit organizations to hand out ice cream and t-shirts to kids in need. Each transaction enables us and our customers to be philanthropist. It’s a win-win-win situation!
That’s our primary design, our primary mission, and our primary movement. The BOGO MoveMeant! If we all thought like this we would change the globe!
So check this out. The UmConscious (a Denver Based band) released their album “The Avenue” in 2008. On Saturday February 28th at the Bluebird theater they are not only playing a show but also releasing their new video for the song “Road Rage!” We’ve worked with the Um since day one and are huge supporters of the band soooooo, we, Troy’s Custom Tees are officially sponsoring the big night!!! Super stoked to know that Troy’s voice was used to do the video trailer narrative as well which will play on this night!!!

More and more I am asked by customers for organic cotton t-shirts. Quickly realizing that there must be something to this, I had to know the facts, the skinny, the 411 on this trend. After setting some time aside to read up on my newly appointed quest I came across hundreds of resources via the web. I soon learned what the effects of conventional cotton have on our environment. Not only that but over time it’s become worse to grow, upkeep, and manufacture. Approximately 600 thousand tons of pesticides and chemical fertilizers are applied to cotton fields each season. Insects continually build up immunities to such toxins therefore farmers are forced to use stronger synthetic pesticides. As you can imagine, all of these end up in the soil or run off into our water supplies. Over time the pesticides are so poisonous and saturated that the fields are left barren and can no longer render crop. That’s just what happens to our earth. Once the cotton is manufactured the fabrics are usually colored with toxic dyes and finished with formaldehyde.
Now for the good news. Organic Cotton is grown in fields where pesticides have not been used in 3 years. It’s cultivated more on mother natures terms meaning synthetic pesticides and fertilizers aren’t used. Insects are introduced to the crop that naturally keep pest insects under control and crops require much more intensive management. Thus allowing for a more natural product that is better for us and our environment.
So there you have it. Conventional cotton vs. Organic Cotton in a very small nut shell. Click here if you’d like to know some very interesting facts about the cotton industry!
As always Troy’s Custom Tees offers a variety of organic cotton shirts available upon request so don’t hesitate to ask.
